As the real face of Israel bares itself in front of the whole world, many still view it as an anomaly in a legitimate cause; that is the state of Israel on their holy land. The facts about the Zionist state called Israel are, therefore, to be reexamined to be clear about its origins and its designs. Zionism is the definition of a religion as a political project, which manifested in the state of Palestine as a new state called Israel, in 1948. However, prior to 1948 there were a series of developments, carefully thought out, which led to this historical event.
It must be remembered that Zionism was a Christian evangelistic project before it became a Jewish project. Christian evangelists not only dedicate themselves to sharing the Christian gospel with the intention of converting others to Christianity, but also believe that the return of the Mesiah will happen only after the establishment of a Jewish state in the ancient kingdom of Judah and Israel. Judaism itself is a universal monotheistic religion and is not about a state. Many orthodox Jews are, therefore, averse to the idea of a Zionist state.
Israel is normally viewed through the lens of Settler Colonialism, which is a version of colonialism, but different in its aims and objectives. India and Africa were colonized by the Europeans for political and material gains for a long period. Settler colonialism, on the other hand, is a movement of Europeans who wanted to settle outside Europe, like America and Australia, by unwanted Europeans, such as the freemasons, who found safe heavens in far off lands. The genocide of the native Americans, as a consequence, is a tale unto itself, which gives an insight into the settler colonial mindset.
When persecution of the central and eastern European Jews gained momentum in the 19th century, the western Europeans decided to settle Jews not in Europe but in Palestine, which was already in the mind of evangelistic Christians. Four elements were active behind the creation of the state of Israel, having their own motives and interests as described below.
17th century Christians believed in the Jewish state of Palestine as a deific destiny, for the return of Messiah to happen. It was considered God’s will, a divine scheme.
Group of capitalists like Rothchild’s, who wanted to benefit their businesses by establishing an independent base in an independent state.
British imperialists, who wanted part of middle east to become part of the British empire.
Anglo Jewish aristocrats in Britain who wanted a remedy to the rising antisemitism and desired that displaced Jews such as the Russian Jews don’t end up in Britain.
As a result, the infamous Balfour declaration was announced by lord Balfour of UK, in 1917, granting settlement rights to the Jews of Europe in state of Palestine; the so called ancestral biblical homeland of Jews. The highly convoluted slogan raised was “a land with no people for the people with no land”. It was, to the contrary, a land of many people, of Muslims, Christians and Jews, living in harmony with each other.
The second half of the Jewish state’s history relates to post-1948 era, when United States became the most important element of Pro-Israel alliance, whereby the AIPAC (American Israel Public Affairs Committee) has an over bearing influence on the US politics; especially after Kennedy. AIPAC is arguably the most powerful lobby in US, which is accused of destroying the careers of politicians who went against AIPAC. It uses its vast funds to oust progressive members of Congress who criticize human rights abuses by Israel and the country’s receipt of billions of U.S. dollars in military funding.
The designs of such lobbies on both sides of the Atlantic are the same. Greater Israel – the whole of the biblical Palestine from the river to the sea – is a theosophical definition of Israel. Both the orthodox Christians and Jews believe in it and want it to come into existence, albeit for somewhat different motives.
The plight of the Palestinians can be understood by knowing the policies of the Jewish rulers. Likud party manifesto is that native Palestinians should be given some rights but never the same rights as Jews, meaning an apartheid state. This is because all non-Jews humans are Goyim for them i.e., humans with lesser rights. Liberal colonizing or progressive settlers is the misnomer for the occupation of land and property of the native Palestinians.
Foregone in view, the fallacy of a two state solution must be understood by its proponents. Two state solution will not stop the ethnic cleansing of Palestine; now in full view of the world for the past twenty months. It will only legitimize the process and the world will be as hopeless as it is today. Gaza is a living example of what is to come under two state solution. Gaza strip was created because Israel wanted to displace the Palestinians from centre and south of Palestine during Nakba. Thus, they were forcibly moved to Gaza and cordoned off, their lands and homes forcibly occupied. Gaza became a mega refugee camp, which became a mega prison in 1990s and now a killing field, upholding genocide under US watch.
